Welcome to PM Course I (Project Management - Basics)
This course aims to enhance your basic theoretical and practical knowledge of Project Management. It targets teachers of translation as well as professional translators who want to learn more about Project Management with a view to using this knowledge in their work. The information presented in this course will help the translators, both in-house and freelancers, to better understand the translation process as a whole and be able to understand the role they occupy in this process.
By the end of this course you should have acquired basic theoretical concepts and principles of project management in general and project management for translators in particular. Specifically, you should understand: what is meant by project and project manangement; the differences between objectives, tasks, and processes; what a translation project is, what type of translation projects there are; what the phases of a project are, which resources are required and how project management is influenced by different work scenarios.
No previous knowledge of project management is presupposed for this course, except for basic ICT knowledge, which you can test in the relevant courses on ICT Skills on the eCoLoTrain website.
